The Year in Prefab
In 2013 Dwell Magazine devoted 8 pages of their annual prefab issue to our zero-net energy, flat-pack prefab home located in the hills of Berkeley, CA. Years later, this project remains as one of Dwell Magazine’s favorites. In 2017 they named it one of the 7 Coolest California Prefabs.
This home has also featured in several of Dave Weinstein’s articles in Eichler Network Magazine: Why Do People Love Butterly Roofs? and Return of the Butterflies.
Our Choice
Al Gore
Ideas from Ben’s white paper on prefabricated building technology and how it can help deliver a more sustainable built environment were incorporated into Al Gore’s book, Our Choice.

Honor Award
In 2018, in partnership with friend and colleague Randy Ruiz, we received an Honor Award from the East Bay chapter of the AIA for our Oakland Hills Home.
Climate Solutions Summit
Al Gore
In 2009, upon recommendation of the venture capital firm, Kleiner Perkins, Ben was asked by former Vice President Al Gore to speak at Gore’s closed-door Climate Solutions Summit in New York.
Ben was one of only 3 presenters representing the entire building industry, including William McDonough (William McDonough + Partners), and Cameron Sinclair (Architecture for Humanity).
